The Development of Hand in Hand and A Dual Path Institute
The founders of A Dual Path Institute, LLC, Monique Illona and Blane Allen began Hand in Hand Massage in 1991. They are Board Certified in Therapeutic Massage & Bodywork – the highest level of certification possible and they each have extensive teaching and life experience.
It began in the artist building in Brighton, MA, Rugg Road studios, where we met on a warm sunny day while Monique was painting the gas tank of her Honda Rebel motorcycle when Blane’s martial arts school began renting space in Rugg Road. Blane was a Massage Therapist in a Chiropractors office on Newbury Street in Boston and worked for a computer company and Monique was teaching self-defense for Impact Model Mugging, making and showing her art and offering massage sessions in a little room under the stairs. Back in 1991 Monique was charging just $40 for two, one-hour sessions.
SInce then, they have each studied and developed ways of working with the body that are unique. Blane applies an Asian perspective and hand skills to his work, Monique deepened her interest in that moment in a session when the client transcends their physical body, life circumstance or stresses and drifts into an expanded state where all things are possible. Convinced this was the key in transforming the patterns we become, the energetic matrix, she developed Sacred Bodywork along with Sacred Practices to clear our individual systems of the blockages and disruptions that settle in the energetic matrix which she writes about in The Dual Path: Sacred Practices & Bodywork.
